The state of St. Kitts and Nevis is an independent nation composed of two islands: St. Kitts (68 sq miles) and Nevis (36 sq miles). St Kitts and Nevis is a member of the British Commonwealth of the Nations, the United Nations, and the Organization of East Caribbean States and the Caribbean Community (Caricom). The Currency used is the Eastern Caribbean dollar which has been fixed at $2.70 to the U.S. dollar since 1976.
